The San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf Hostel is kicking off the summer with a non-stop month of World Cup soccer in our brand new, theater-style TV room.
June 11 - July 11, join us for matches live from South Africa on the new 57-inch flatscreen TV. They’re early in this time zone, with teams playing at 7 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and sometimes 4:30 a.m., but you can enjoy snacks and drinks or your free continental breakfast (served 7:30 - 10:30 a.m.) from Cafe Franco while you watch. Late sleepers can join in too, since reruns of matches and other soccer programming will be on all day.
If you’re staying at one of our San Francisco hostels July 11, come on down for a championship game party — we’ll fire up the barbeque, serve drinks, and get a game of our own going on the lawn.
The new theater seats 23, but bigger crowds can stand, pull up chairs, or listen in from the sundeck just outside. After the World Cup is over, we’ll show movies and make popcorn most nights of the week.
Throughout the World Cup tournament. the San Francisco Downtown and City Center hostels will also be showing most matches and replays throughout the day.
At the Downtown Hostel, games will show in the TV room and will also be projected onto a wall in the hostel lobby. At the City Center Hostel, games will show in the TV room and staff will keep an up-to-date score board of team victories and upcoming games.
